php not getting parsed properly

My problem is that every time I try to make a request for a php page from a
browser, the 'Download Dialog' box appears

Maybe you did not activate PHP for the domain?

Please let me know where to activate php for a particular domain..i seleted the option php while creating this domain through plesk.please let me know what file is gettign edited when i select this option

Well, this should be the trigger. It should affect conf/httpd.include in domainusers homedir.

Otherwise it could also be that your Apache (for customers) does not load PHP module at all ...
