ping on server returns wrong domain name..

hello,
i recently moved a domain on my server from a unique to a shared ip-number. i then assigned a new domain to that unique ip that i have just freed. if i do a ping on the server to this new domain, i still get the answer that the packages are returned from the old domain. which settings didn't get updated properly? can anyone help? all my domains work fine to the outside, it's just that little problem on the server. i checked all the /etc files where network settings can be found - with no success..thanks.
