  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Plesk 12.5 - Postfix without MDA

Vega80

New Pleskian
Hello,

is it possible to configure Plesk to use Postfix without Dovecot (or Courier)?

I want to use an external Mailhoster for all domains (mx is set to the external server), but all the e-mails from root or php should be send out directly from my server, so the SSMTP alternative ist not an option. For this I only need the MTA, but the plesk installer does not allow me to install Postfix without one of the two MDA options. And it is also not possible to disable the Courier service permanently via the panel, as it will be active again after a reboot. I don't want to have an unused service running for security and resource reasons.

I see some possibilities, but I would like to ask for an official way or at least some thoughts if can get some problems with my solutions:

1) "official way"?
2) Remove the execution rights for /etc/init.d/dovecot (will Plesk have any problems?)
3) No installation of postfix via plesk but manual installation of postfix or exim4. Should be no problem with php, but I guess it would not be possible to further use the e-mail notifications from Plesk, or does it use the default sendmail option of the system?

System: Debian 8, Plesk 12.5.30

Thank you!
