  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

As we all know, plesk 9.0 has been released today.
Just curious as to who all has upgraded, and any problems you faced ??? Is it what we have been waiting for???

Only 1 big issue: being unable to upgrade
Upgraded key from 8.6.0 to 9.x, received new key via email but it's an xml file, all older keys were .sh files (zipped). Obviously CP doesn't recognize the key and it won't ugrade without a new key.

Tried to retrieve keys in the CP, server updated key but now the key on the server doesn't match the one that came with the email.

Thanks MW.
Out of curiosity, since I will also be (eventually) upgrading from 8.6 --> 9.0, do you think all would have been well if you just had retrieved keys via the CP in the first place???
I was looking at the release Docs a second ago, and it mentioned that the key is supposed to auto-update... Maybe the first bug???

I first tried installing without upgrading key via CP -> error
I than tried to update key via CP -> key wouldn't update
Updated key via plesk website -> Updated key via CP (key updated on server)
Tried to upgrade to plesk 9.0 again -> same error
Tried to install key that came with email -> can't upload key

In other words I am stuck now.

Tried to bypass key check which worked but than:

Checking whether the package dependencies are resolved.
E: Couldn't configure pre-depend psa for plesk-billing, probably a dependency cycle.
ERROR: autoinstaller: Error in execution of DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive

I was just about to post what MajorWinters did. I am having this same issue on a fresh Ubuntu 8.04 install with a 10 hour old install of Plesk 8.6.0. Fully updated and running fine.

I'm hosted with 1&1 (1and1), which is a key reseller or something. While using the auto-installer (/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/autoinstaller) I get
Downloading the file PSA_9.0.0/plesk_getkeyinfo.sh: Failed to check whether a new license key is available.

Continuing with the upgrade without having an appropriate product license
will result in the installation of a default license with limited
functionality. Administrators are advised to first acquire the appropriate
license before continuing with the product upgrade.

Do you want to continue?
Type either Yes or No:
Is it safe for me to continue?

As long as that is not a production server. Otherwise, if the upgrade succeeds I'm pretty sure you'll have a default license with only 1 domain. I suggest you upgrade your license and try again. That may then succeed or it should after the upgrade.

Updating the license does nothing, I think parallels have to do something as I have not heard of one success of an upgrade. probably they are all still 8.6 licenses despite updating or their script the installer gets is messed up.

Either way we have to wait :(

I strongly suggest not forcing the update as I agree your bound to drop back to one domain only.

Hello everybody,

it wouldn't come as a surprise but let's spread the word!

Plesk 9 is NOT compatible with PBAS!

We tried to Upgrade to Plesk 9 in a VPS (aka CT) via the Virtuozzo CP >> Applications >> Upgrade Applications >> Test Upgrade OR Upgrade to latest, as suggested by Parallels, and guess what: PBAS crashed!!!!

When we informed Parallels support about that, they redirected us to this article http://kb.odin.com/en/5879 , where (to make things even more... funny/tragic) we got this error: " * You can't see internal articles "

Dear Parallels, maybe (if you don't mind) it would be a good idea to SHARE this piece of information with your clients!!!

So if you use Plesk, (w/ or w/o) Virtuozzo and PBAS you wouldn't want to upgrade to Plesk 9.

I apologize in advance if I missed something on their site but this is critical information that should be included within all their Plesk 9, PBAS related pages and newsletters!!!! For God's shake!

Happy New Year!
