Question Plesk access with Proxy

Hello Support,

We have a few questions regarding the use of Softaculous and Imunify with Plesk, specifically in environments where access is routed through a proxy server:

1. Is it possible to access Softaculous and Imunify360 through a proxy from a Plesk environment?
2. How does the licensing model work in this case? Can we purchase the license based on the proxy IP or does it need to be tied directly to the actual server’s public IP?

If this setup is supported, could you please advise on the necessary steps to implement it — including how to bind the license to the proxy or configure access appropriately?

Awaiting your reply.

Hello, @Thomas Oryon . I am not entirely sure I clearly understand your setup idea. Generally, if you want to configure a proxy server in front of the Plesk server, there shouldn't be an issue accessing Softaculous and Imunify360. As for the license, the same should be assigned to your server IP address. If you can share a bit more about your setup requirements it will be great - are you planning to configure it using NAT?

Hello,

Thanks for your response. Our setup as follows.

- All our plesk hosted servers will be under hardware firewall
- We have a restriction to allow only certain port in the hardware firewall for inbound connection
- For outbound connection, we have a proxy server where our traffic will be routed to proxy server for all plesk server for security compliance.

Now, please answer for the below questions.

1. If the traffic routed to proxy server, do we need to purchase plesk license for proxy server or plesk installed server?
2. If the traffic routed to proxy server, how the licensing works for Softaculous and Imunify360 ? Do we need to purchase for proxy server or plesk installed server?

Note:
Plesk installed server and proxy server will have separate IP address

As long as the Plesk server has access to internet and outbound connections are allowed there shouldn't be an issue. The Plesk license have to be bound to the server IP address. There is no need to purchase an additional license for the proxy server. Regarding Softaculous and Imunify, the licenses should also be associated with the main server and there shouldn't be any access issues. However, they are still third-party services and I cannot guarantee that for sure.
