  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Plesk Backup Manager and the Cron list

Hello,

My server (Red Hat, Plesk 9.0.1) is hanging at around 4:12am just about every Sunday morning.
The last thing I can see running is this cron job:

4,19,34,49 * * * * /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/backupmng >/dev/null 2>&1

I want to remove this task to see if the crashes cease, but before I do I want to understand it a bit more and despite searching I cannot find what I want to know, my questions are:

Is backupmng in some way related to the backups set in Plesks GUI Backup Manager?
If so why does setting scheduled backups in Backup manager not affect this cron list entry?
If not, what does backupmng actually do and how can you configure it?

Additionally I've started looking into using the Backup Manager in the Plesk GUI to set up a daily server backup (all data).
I followed the instructions (go to home -> backup manager -> Scheduled backup settings and set the time I want it to trigger, but it fails to start, is there anywhere I can find a log of what backup manager is doing.

Thanks in advance
C

It seems that my server is backing up but at 11.04am and pm. It uses the name prefix for the backup file that I set but seemingly ignores the scheduled time that I set (04:48am).

backupmng in the cron list does have a 04 minutes past run time, so maybe it is related.
Is there a log file for backupmng or a way you can get it to output a log?

Despite me having the backup time set to 03:38am (or any other time I select) Plesk is doing a full backup at 11:04PM everyday.
This is fine, but if anyone can suggest why it is choosing this time and where I can change it that would be great.
Thanks
