Plesk CP on port 8443 not using provided SSL certificate

I can't figure out how to get Plesk 8.1.1 to use the SSL certificate I've bought for my domain. It continues to use an expired, self-signed certificate valid only for "localhost.localdomain", which produces a browser warning. I've made sure to clear my browser's cache and used different browsers to test it.

I've tried several things to get Plesk CP to use my control panel. I've updated the files "/usr/local/psa/admin/conf/httpsd.pem", "/usr/local/psa/admin/conf/rootchain.pem", making sure they were properly pointed to in "/usr/local/psa/admin/conf/httpd.conf". I've also updated the relevant files in "/usr/local/psa/admin/conf/ssl.*/*" but that also had no effect.

I've gone into Plesk CP, gone to Server > Certificates and checked the box beside the certificate I wanted to use and clicked "Setup". No error messages are reported, but the SSL certificate used by Plesk CP continues to be the default "localhost.localdomain" self-signed certificate.

How do I get Plesk CP on port 8443 to use my certificate?

Hi vtowel.

I had exactly the same problem a few months back.
Do you have a Virtuozzo outer container by any chance?

My Plesk install would ONLY use my Virtuozzo container's certificate. After requesting to my ISP to disable the Virtuozzo container, my domain used my purchased certificate on https://my.domain.com.

When Virtuozzo was enabled again, the certificate would default back to a self signed one. So, either have your own certificate and no Virtuozzo, or have a self signed one and Virtuozzo.

To be honest, I have got along absolutely fine without Virtuozzo. I can still stop/start/restart from within Plesk -> Server, and my ISP also uses HSP Complete so I can control anything else from there.

Hope this helps!

GuKea.

Thanks

Hey GuKea,

Thanks for the tip! My server is running Virtuozzo, and that's probably what it is. I'm not sure I completely understand all that Virtuozzo does, and what will happen to my server if I had it disabled. Not even sure if my host is able to do that. I'd rather not bother investigating that route; I can put up with browser warnings for now.
