  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Plesk on VMWare?

Hello all,

I'm interested on taking my entire FC3 installation on my server and copying it to a virtual machine using VMWare on my home computer where I can attempt an upgrade to Plesk 8.0 from 7.5.4. This way, if anything goes wrong, it's not on my production server.

However, am I going to run into problems because of licensing? Is my plesk license code ever transmitted back while running or doing an upgrade that is going to lock out my real server? Has anyone tried this? I know I could download the trial 1 domain Plesk, but I'd like this virtual machine to be almost identical to my production server so that I can really see if anything is going to go wrong.

Let me know if anyone has any thoughts.

Thanks in advance!

~Jeff
