Plesk Panel Updates

I currently have Paralles Plesk Panel version 8.6.0 and would like to update to the newer versions.
Prior to updating I would like to perform a bakup of everything so that in the event the update does not work, i can restore to the previous version.

Here is my question. What is the best way to backup and then recover from a backup
