• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Plesk server does not resolve to plesk.page domain name

Atul Agrawal

New Pleskian
Server operating system version
UBUNTU 20
Plesk version and microupdate number
Version 18.0.49 Update #2
Plesk was originally installed on the ip 49.50.70.71 and the secure url / security certificate was sleepy-zhukovsky.49-50-70-71.plesk.page. The ip was later changed to 121.242.224.101. I do not have corresponding security certificate for this ip. Please advise how we can get a security certificate for 121.242.224.101 of the format random.name.121.242.224.101.plesk.page.

You cannot get a wildcard certificate for plesk.page domain, because a wildcard certificate would need a nameserver entry. As the nameserver entries of these free domains are managed outside of your server, these cannot be set for your wildcard.

If your initial server IP address got changed the provided Plesk host name will no longer work. There is no option to generate a new one. However you can course change the Full Hostname of the server (via Tools & Settings > Server Settings) to your own hostname. Using a domain name you own (or manage). Like server.example.com. You'll also have to create a DNS record for the hostname and set the reverse DNS (rDNS) to match your new hostname.
