I have a fresh install of Plesk 8.0 running on Fedora Core 3.

One of the first things I did was goto the updater to update to 8.0.1.

I only selected the default packages and after some minutes I receive this error:

ERROR: PleskFatalException

AutoInstallerManager::show_packages() failed: AutoInstallerManager::_autoInstallerCall() failed: autoinstaller failed: Empty error message from utility.

0: /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/common_func.php3:169
psaerror(string 'AutoInstallerManager::show_packages() failed: AutoInstallerManager::_autoInstallerCall() failed: autoinstaller failed: Empty error message from utility.')
1: /usr/local/psa/admin/htdocs/server/autoinstaller_install.php:49

I can't find anybody else on the Web to have this same problem, so any help trying to figure out would be very much appreciated...

Thanks,
Cosmic... :)

More Information if this helps...

I had a support ticket for this same problem with my hosting company and got this response:

when I installed plesk I tried Plesk 8.0.1 and it didn't let me, so I installed Plesk 8.0.0, there must be some sort problem with Plesk 8.0.1.

I remember that the error was with gzip and I tried the comamnd by hand and it worked just fine, so I am afraid it is Plesk the one causing the error.

even more info... help this helps somebody help...

When trying to do the update using the autoinstaller via command line I get:

Reading system installed packages...done.
Download file build-8.0.1-fc3-i386.hdr.gz: 18%..33%..52%..70%..88%..100% done
Download file update-8.0.1-fc3-i386.hdr.gz: 20%..31%..44%..89%..90%..100% done
Can't execute command gunzip --stdout /root/psa/PSA_8.0.1/update-rpm-FedoraCore-3-i386/update-8.0.1-fc3-i386.hdr.gz
ERROR: Can't read updates headers file
ERROR: Installation failed

Can't read updates header file? Is this a problem with the software @ Plesk?

[SOLVED] FYI

This error happens when the machine runs out of memory. If you get this problem a memory upgrade and/or turning off some of the processes when running the autoinstaller from command line should fix your problem..
