Question Port 8443 / IONOS Firewall

othmaqsa

Regular Pleskian
Server operating system version
Ubuntu 20.04
Plesk version and microupdate number
Version 18.0.44
Hello,

When I type: https://<hostname> (without mentioning port 8443), I am redirected to the login page.

1- How to restrict access to url not including port 8443?
2- In addition, I want to add my public IP address in the IONOS firewall rules regarding port 8443 so that no one has access since this page is dedicated to server administration. Is it a good idea or not?

Thank you.

How to restrict access to url not including port 8443?
Go to Tools&Settings > Customize Plesk URL and check that you have enabled the option: No custom URLs. Only https://<server-IP-or-hostname>:8443

Why not take advantage of the functionality built into Plesk? I mean Tools&Settings > IP Access Restriction Management

Hello IgoG,

Thank you for your message.

For the Plesk option: Tools&Settings > IP Access Restriction Management, the fact that my IP address is dynamic so it changes all the time, I could encounter problems when connecting to Plesk?

I found your answer to a problem I was having as well.
I can also enable the static IP address of my office, but then when I'm around for work how do I access the server?
I can't always use a static IP to associate and sometimes I have to use the dynamic one, for example that of the hotspot activated on the smartphone.
