Problem creating a new domain owner

I'm using Plesk 10.3 and have a domain that requires a new owner. The new owner already is registered as a user as he has an email account under that domain.

The problem now is that I can't make that person the owner of the domain. Plesk says:

The e-mail address [email protected] is associated with another user (xxx). Please specify another address.

Any idea on how to solve this problem?
