  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Problem with German umlauts since one of the last updates

King555

Regular Pleskian
I'm using Plesk 10.4.4 MU10 on a Debian lenny 5 x64 server.

Since 10.4.4 or one of the microupdates Plesk has problems with German umlauts. That are the letters ÄÖÜ and äöü.

My name and my city have such an umlaut and Plesk now shows strange characters instead of the umlauts. For example ü instead of ü and ä instead of ä.

This occurs for example in the input fields where I can change the administrator's details and at the top where I see the currently logged in user.

Problem solved. I only had to edit the admin details. Maybe just a little conversion error with one of the last updates. When re-entering the details, the umlauts are working.

Hi King555 and all other.

I´ve the same Problem but i can´t find where i must edit the "admin details".
Please can you tell me what and where do you made.

Greetings - Stephan

Go to "My profile" - "Profile & settings" ("Mein Profil" - "Profil & Einstellungen"), edit the values, save.

Thanks for your info, but unfortunately it doesn´t work on my server.
It´s a new root-server by 1&1 with Plesk 10.4.4.
I copy php-scripts from my old server to the new and then i export the mysql-database from the old and import on the new one. In the scripts are no charset-information and the database has "latin-1_swedish".
Now, on the new Server all Sites are correctly but all output data from database are wrong. When i put a charset-information on the php-scripts (utf8) then the sites are wrong but all database-output are fine.
I think it mus be a problem with the mysql or apache.

I think i´ve found the problem.

On the old server in mysql are follows vars:
collation connection : utf8_unicode_ci
(Globaler Wert) : latin1_swedish_ci
collation database : latin1_swedish_ci
collation server : latin1_swedish_ci

And on the new server are these vars:
collation connection : utf8_unicode_ci
(Globaler Wert) : utf8_unicode_ci
collation database : utf8_unicode_ci
collation server : utf8_unicode_ci

But now, where i can change these vars and what is with plesk when i change the vars ?
