• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Problems with adding email addresses in plesk 8

I have problems with adding new email addresses in plesk 8.
Im running plesk 8 on fedora c4.

Currently I am using Plesk 7.5x but I want to move in de future to 8. With the migration tool I can transfer some accounts from one machine to on other (with a few custom hacks because the db’s are not transferred right)

but I have some troubles with the following situation:
I have a few existing domains in 7.5x with an info@.. User which are using the same password.
Eg: [email protected] and [email protected] if I want to add this accounts (by hand or in the migration process), the first one is accepted but with the second one, plesk comes with this error:
Execution of /usr/local/psa/bin/mail --create [email protected] -passwd -mailbox true -multiple-sessions true -cp_access true failed with return code 1.
Stderr is
An error occured during mailname creation: Unable to update the mail name properties:
The password is incorrect, use at least 5 characters. The password should not contain mail name as its part.
Only Latin characters, no dictionary words (optional).

Accurse this is not the case…
It looks like plesk is not accepting the same password for users with the same name.

Please can somebody check this situation on his / her plesk 8 installation an please give feedback if this is just our problem or a bug in plesk 8.
All the feedback / suggestions are welcome.

You may check the server-wide email preferences for "Names for POP3/IMAP mail accounts", and set it to "Only use of full POP3/IMAP mail accounts names is allowed", and while doing the migration you may also turn off the "Check the passwords for mailboxes in the dictionary" checkbox.

Thanks!
It was the first option, very stupid of me, I was looking in in the wrong direction...
For now the troubles with the migrations seems to be done...
I dont think it's wise to update to 8 already but we can start testing....

Thanks again!
