Problems with PROFTPD not running

I cannot get proftpd to run - have tried restarting xinetd but that makes no difference - have checked all the conf files and nothing has changed.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this problem - urgently

Anything show up in /var/log/messages or /usr/local/psa/var/log/xferlog? (assuming you're running Redhat or Fedora).

I get the same thing with plesk 8.0 redhate Es4
