protected folders

Hi,
I have a customer that wants to have a protected folder that they can both view via http and also that they can upload/download files from their domain with only two users with logins for that folder via ftp.

What I did was I went to the control panel, then to their domain, then to protected directories, added the folder, then added the two user name/passwords.
When I checked to see if it worked by doing both visiting the site/folder in http, it imediately says forbidden acces without giving a promt for username/pass; then when I try to ftp into the folder it rejects the usenames/passwords.

We are using Plesk 8.2.1 and I am new and still learning plesk.

What am I doing wrong?

Never mind, they basically want a virtual directory.
I'll have to figure something else out.
