PTR records as default. Why?

Wondering why the default records for DNS in Plesk create a PTR record? Since typically the server does not own the IP address and the owner of the IP address handles rDNS.

If you did not want the PTR record as default you can remove the PTR template from the Server --> DNS seetings and remove the following PTR template which will disable the PTR setup for the IP address:


<ip> / 24 PTR <domain>.
