  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Publishing Error: Can't connect via FTP

We have not been able to get any sites published to our hosting account. The software was installed by Parallels to the same hosting account.

We have loaded a host - firstly as an IP address. Got the "can't connect by FTP" error. I used the same details and logged in manually via FTP - so I know the settings are correct.

I then went into Hosts - deleted the IP address and used our URL - then went back to "publishng Sites" - but that didnt work either (and FTP and VPS options both disappeared). I went back to Hosts, deleted the URL version and added the IP address again - but we still don't have the FTP and VPS hosting options back. Only XCopy.

Please advise urgently. We have had clients waiting for 2-3 weeks to publish their sites. Surely this shoud have been set up as part of the installation process??

Thanks

Help!

Can someone get back to me on this? I have clients waiting for their sites to be published.

1. How do we get the FTP and VPS options back for our Host.

2. Why isnt it connecting via FTP?

Thanks

Melinda

Melinda, publication part is built-in functionality in Parallels Plesk Sitebuilder CP and if there are any issues it can be configuration part from Sitebuilder side or requirements issue on publication side.
As I understand, for now FTP and VPS modes are not available for you. It looks like you have administrative rights in Sitebuilder so you need to make sure that FTP and VPS modes are enabled for the plan which is used by the issued sites. So check it in Users -> Plans -> PLAN_NAME -> Publishing settings and check that all modes are available there.

As soon as FTP mode is available try to enter appropriate publication info - filling all necessary fields and check location with 'Verify location' button. If connection to FTP is not available, just provide exact error for it (better use Logs section from admin CP to check the errors). Make sure that FTP access is possible from Sitebuilder server itself but not from your personal computer.
