In its source, qmail has a line line this:
out("AUTH=LOGIN PLAIN CRAM..." )
however, iphones seem to require it to have a space instead of an equal sign.
"AUTH LOGIN PLAIN CRAM..etc.."
I replaced the equal sign in qmail's source with a space, and now my iphone 3 (never again will I buy iphones) now sends my test mails out with no problems!
