Resolved Question about changing domain

Lowerkey

New Pleskian
I'm using Plesk 12.0.18 and I have a question.

I have a website set up but I want to change the domain and set up redirects to new content pages on the new domain from the old.

I looked up on renaming the domain of a current subscription but I found out that deletes my current files and databases :/ Is that true?

What's the best way of going about with this and having my emails forward to the new domain?

I was thinking of setting up a new subscription with the new domain, enabling email forwarding from my old subscription and using htaccess for redirects. Would 301 redirects via htaccess work if I delete the data to free up room on my server on my old subscription of my old domain name?
