• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

rbl blocks sending emails

hello

i use the trend micro rbl+ service sind 3 months. 1 month ago i found out, that it doesn't work because the rbl didn't check the TXT records.

trend micro has fixed that about one week ago, the service checks now also for TXT records and emails get rejected if they are on a blacklist.

but now i have this problem with qmail:

when some of my clients try to send an email with my smtp server (with authentification) it doesn't work anymore. they get an error message, that their ip-address is on a dul list.

but i cannot make a ip-removal request for all ip's, they are dynamic.

is this problem because of qmail or trend micro rbl?

if have updated to 8.1.1 but still the same problem...

Thanks

You're using an RBL that lists dial-up IP's, so you're blocking dial-up users by choosing to use this RBL.

Either don't use RBL's that list dial-up IP's or have your clients use their ISP's SMTP server instead of yours.

hi breun
thanks for your reply

is that a problem if i they use their isp's smtp server?

i'ver heard that by doing so, some spam filter would think that it is spam when the smtp server is not the same like the domainname in the email-address.

for example: if my email ist [email protected] i have to send it with my smtp mail.domain.com and not with mail.example.com

what do you mean exactly with dial-up?
i have fast internet connection. is that also dial-up?

thanks

They should be fine using their ISP's SMTP server.

This is has nothing to do with your server, but with your clients. They were blocked because their IP's are listed to be dynamic/dial-up addresses by the RBL.

ok! thanks for your help!

now i know more about the rbl service...

Also know that there are many different RBLs and they all have their own policies on what they are listing what they are not listing. Read them carefully before deciding whether or not to use them in your situation.
