  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Recommendations for "Maximum number of connections per IP address"

Chrisa

Basic Pleskian
Greetings,
Is there a document that provides some sort of 'rule of thumb' recommendations for "Maximum number of connections per IP address" in regards to the "Server-Wide Mail Settings".

I understand that as this number is increased it will load cpu, memory etc and that each configuration/situation will be unique, so I'm not looking for definitive answers, just a guideline that would get close to the best value depending on my configuration.

I found this guide, but it does not seem to go into recommendations.

Using Plesk v. 12.5.30
Installed IMAP/POP3 server Courier-IMAP

Thanks

i use:

Maximum number of connections = 250
Maximum number of connections per IP address = 50

50 might seem a lot, but in its standard setup thunderbird imap opens 5 simultaneous connections. So an office with 10 users will open 50 connections from the same ip addres.

Regards
Jan
