retrieving backup data...

hi,

I was hosting a website which used Plesk as a control panel. (v8 and for Linux).

I backed up my site using Plesk control panel, and downloaded the backup files.

Now I want to retrieve all the data on my PC. But no zip software supports the file created by Plesk. Is there any utility tool to uncompress the data?

regards.

I think the plesk backup files are proprietary and you will need to restore them on another plesk 8 server...

I believe they are some kind of base64 encoded stream of zipped files. Or something. I believe it's possible to unpack those backup files, but it's not easy and likely requires multiple tools. No ready-to-go software. I don't have a link for you right now, but I believe I read somewhere once how to do it. Might have been for Plesk 7 though and they changed the format with Plesk 8.
