Retrieving EMail messages via IMAP / POP3 not working on Debian-powered Plesk server

Hi all,
I am running Plesk 10.4.4 Update #12 on Debian Squeze, 64-bit. I have installed Plesk using the "typical" option and haven't done any manual configuration changes to any of the server components (e.g. modifying config files or anything like that).
One of the things that I've done was to configure the Mail service using the web interface. So far, most of the system is already running, and the server can send / receive messages. However, for some reason retrieving messages isn't working for me. I've tried setting up the Apple Mail program to connect to the server and retrieve Mail, but for some reason it isn't working. I've tried both IMAP / POP3, both with SSL on and off. In all cases, Mail shows that it can successfully establish a connection, however new messages aren't being downloaded. However, when I look into Horde, I can see all new messages on the web interface...
What could be the issue here? I've checked and double-checked all Mail-related preferences in Plesk, but can't find anything helpful there...

Did you test it with other email clients like MS Outlook, etc?

yes, I've tested this both with Mozilla Thunderbird and Gnome Evolution, but none of them will work. However, the weird thing is, I've tried establishing a Telnet connection to the POP3 server and issue some commands, which worked just fine... Part of that conversation is below:

Looking at this, it actually seems as if the Mail service is running just fine and the POP3 service can display messages just fine.
Any idea of what could be the problem here?...
