• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

We run a dedicated server at a hosting location and have a /29 allocated to us. The DNS features at the server level or the domain level do not allow the administrator to adjust the name of the IN-ADDR.ARPA file. Instead Plesk sets this file up as if the entire class "C" address is owned by the server. In today's CIDR world, this is grandiose at best and just plain wrong in the worst case.

Many ISP's and hosting companies are willing to delegate the IN-ADDR.ARPA authority for that small piece of the pie we are using, but the filenames need to be adjusted so that the owner of the Class "C" can distinguish among all the CIDR address holders.

As an example:

For 192.168.15.8/29 Plesk generates
15.168.192.in-addr.arpa for both the zone and file names. For an ISP delegation to work, at a minimum, the zone should be something like 8-15.15.168.192.in-addr.arpa

This way, the ISP can easily see what addresses are allocated to us and can tell by the zone name if the delegetion is in sync with what the customer is actually allocated.
