Roundcube 0.9.4

Markus_Eyrich

Basic Pleskian
Is there an update planned to the psa-roundcube package ? As Plesk was released with roundcube actual version was 0.9.0 where Parallels used 0.8.6. We are now on version 0.9.4 on the roundcube homepage.

Can i manually update roundcube without breaking something plesk related ?

Theoretically yes, provided that you will:

1) follow current Roundcube layout in Plesk and it will match layout in future Parallels releases;
2) do not overwrite any configs;
3) future update will be done to exactly that version (otherwise you're risking leaving stuff behind).

Looks overwhelming, doesn't it? Well, primary risk is that you'll turn your installation into unmanageable files mess and package manager will not be able to remove files that are no longer needed. This may cause troubles (due to accidental old code inclusions) after official upgrade is released. Another risk is not having DB upgrade path (provided new version requires DB changes - I'm not sure about that).

You may also be able to install Roundcube besides the stock one and use it instead. It will be safe, but will require additional work.

Could you share features you are missing in the currently available Roundcube installation? In other words, why do you want to upgrade?

we update our RC to latest and its working as a charm. you can do by yourself.

/usr/share/psa-roundcube (files)
Tools & Settings > Database Servers > webadmin
roundcubemail (database name)

you just need to maintain the database credentials, other things you can change as you wish
