SiteBuilder SDK Question

I am reading the SiteBuilder SDK documentation and I see that it says you can compile on Windows, but there is no compile option for Linux. What does this even mean? So how do I compile a new template on linux or do I not need to do the compile step on linux? Do i literally compile it on windows and then transfer it to linux? It just doesn't make sense. If someone can clarify that for me i would be very greatful. Thank you.
