SMTP Auth before RBL-check?

hi,

i have the problem that qmail does the MAPS/RBL-check BEFORE! the SMTP-auth, so a user which got an IP which is in a blacklist can't sent his mail via my server. qmail just blocks the connection if MAPS is active before checking if it's a legitimate user

is there any solution to avoid this without using TCP 587 ? (which would require to make all users to change their mail-client settings)
