SMTP Auth not working

Hello people,

I have plesk 8.1 on fc4 on a client's server. Under Server > Mail > Preferences, smtp auth is enabled.

smtp auth is not! working. Clients cannot send emails through this server with smtp auth.

Need help to figure out and make smtp auth work

P.S. This is not an open relay issue
