SPAM attack

If you have a SPAM attack being generated from your server then surely the best thing to do is look at the cause of the generated emails and fix the issue rather than trying to limit how many can be sent? Do you know how the emails are being generated from your server? Had a mate the other day where SPAM being sent through his server was being authenticated. All I could think was that the username and password for the account had been compromised so changing the password for that account stopped the mail. Other routes for SPAM are hacked sites with files placed on them that can be called remotely to generate mails from the box and also insecure contact forms etc so have a good look at the log files on your machine and work out how the SPAM is being generated. Fix the cause of the problem!
