SpamAssassin Newbie.

Howdy,

I won't pretend to know what I don't. I'm new here, but have been around the industry for 15+ years. We're migrating from a cpanel unit to a new plesk install (8.3). My questions are:

1) We have our email up and running, and I'm finding that some mail is being labelled spam by this header:
X-hMailServer-Spam: YES
while other mail is labelled spam by this header:
X-Spam-Flag: YES
X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.2.3 (2007-08-08) on

I don't get it. Sometimes hMailServer finds a message spam and there's no SpamAssassin info in the header, and sometimes there's info from both SpamAssassin AND hMailServer in the same header. How do I get SpamAssassin to continually monitor for spam. My subject lines are amusing as sometimes I have:
[SPAM] Office 2007 Enterprise OEM version
and others are:
[SPAM] *****SPAM***** [SPAM] Why pay big bucks? Create your OWN website now!
(I'm assuming that sample was scanned 3 times?)

2) I've created a blackhole email address and added an alias to it. For example, the email account is "[email protected]" and the alias is "[email protected]". The catch-all comes to me, and I'm still receiving mail to "[email protected]".

Much appreciated,

- Al

Hi,

1)
Looks like both Hmail server and Plesk's SpamAssassin are working.

Try to leave only Plesk SpamAssassin enabled.

2) How this should work in your opinion ?

Thanks.

1) How do I turn off hMail spam filtering? Na, I'll RTFM. Lol.

2) I don't collect mail from the blackhole address, and [email protected] is an alias of the blackhole address. For some reason the [email protected] is being caught by our catchall, not by the blackhole. I'd like it to be in the blackhole.

And a new addition:

3) Can I use RegEx strings in the alias addresses?

Thanks again,

- Al
