Resolved The connection to the IMAP server failed

andrecab93

Basic Pleskian
Server operating system version
Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS
Plesk version and microupdate number
Plesk Obsidian 18.0.73 Update #2 Web Host Edition
Hello, since yesterday evening I have been unable to access my emails. I have tried everything and always get the error message ‘Connection to IMAP server failed.’ In Roundcube and Outlook, it just says that it is not possible to connect to the server.

I haven't changed anything, so what could it be? As far as I understand, emails are coming in normally.

Thank you.

Check and make sure that the dovecot service is running properly on the server with the command:

Code:
systemctl status dovecot

I recommend that you tail your maillog and then do a send a receive with your email client and check for any errors:
Code:
tail -f /var/log/maillog

Check and make sure that the dovecot service is running properly on the server with the command:

Whenever I try to log in here, I always get the above error, but the attempts do not appear when I try to access it. Only those attempts from random emails that do not even exist appear.

We reported a similar error to plesk yesterday. TB could not connect/authenticate to the IMAP server anymore. SMTP is fine, webmail is fine, other clients (iphone) are fine. There was no common denominator as far as we could see. Currently awaiting feedback.

In my case, it doesn't work anywhere, whether it's webmail, Outlook, cell phone, nothing. We can't get any access.

@Alexander Bien Make sure that you have updated to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.73 Update 2 as they should have fixes for that:

From the Plesk changelog:
Fixed the issue where, after updating to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.73, Thunderbird could not send or receive emails when “Encrypted Password” was selected in the email client settings, by restoring support for the CRAM-MD5 authentication scheme. (PPPM-15147)

Solved, it seems that Dovecot had the wrong port. Instead of 993, it had 9993. It must have been a Plesk update that misconfigured the ports. It has now been corrected and emails are coming through.
