• Hi, Pleskians! We are running a UX testing of our upcoming product intended for server management and monitoring.
We would like to invite you to have a call with us and have some fun checking our prototype. The agenda is pretty simple - we bring new design and some scenarios that you need to walk through and succeed. We will be watching and taking insights for further development of the design.
If you would like to participate, please use this link to book a meeting. We will sent the link to the clickable prototype at the meeting.
  • (Plesk for Windows):
MySQL Connector/ODBC 3.51, 5.1, and 5.3 are no longer shipped with Plesk because they have reached end of life. MariaDB Connector/ODBC 64-bit 3.2.4 is now used instead.
  • Our UX team believes in the in the power of direct feedback and would like to invite you to participate in interviews, tests, and surveys.
To stay in the loop and never miss an opportunity to share your thoughts, please subscribe to our UX research program. If you were previously part of the Plesk UX research program, please re-subscribe to continue receiving our invitations.

Totally Lost when trying to Upgrade

I have no idea what I am doing. I do not know what server or what anything means as far as that goes. Which autoinstaller thing do I choose? How do I find out? I placed several on my desktop but have no way to open them, it just goes in to IE and says it is unknown. Can anyone give me SIMPLE instructions step by step?

I have 4.0 that came free with hostgator and to get my photos onto the templates in a better way they told me to upgrade to 4.5. The upgrade is free isn't it?

God bless you,
Blake

Yes, upgrade is free and it must be performed directly on the server where Sitebuilder installed. As you have Sitebuilder for Linux/Unix, upgrade should be done through console using command line utilities.
Refer to Parallels Plesk Sitebuilder installation guide for more details:

http://download1.parallels.com/SiteBuilder/4.5.0/doc/install/en_US/html/index.htm

It is suggested to use autoinstaller for these purposes.
1. Browse Parallels web site http://www.parallels.com/en/download/sitebuilder4/
2. In "Please select target OS" listbox select your operation system (where Sitebuilder installed)
3. As soon as OS is selected you will be provided with links to autoinstaller. Just click on this link and it will ask you to save it.
4. For example, you got FedoraCore8 OS, so the link will be http://download1.parallels.com/Site...er_v3.3.2_build080710.09_os_FedoraCore_8_i386

and the downloaded file is parallels_installer_v3.3.2_build080710.09_os_FedoraCore_8_i386

5. Save this file to some directory, for example, /root/ on the server.
6. Open console and go into /root dir:
# cd /root
7. Run autoinstaller:
#sh parallels_installer_v3.3.2_build080710.09_os_FedoraCore_8_i386

and follow steps of autoinstaller.

If you are not familiar with working in Linux console I can suggest to find someone who can don this for you.

Wouldn't the Linux server actually be owned by hostgator, they are the one that gave me sitebuilder 4.0.? If that is correct would that mean I do not have access to the server to upgrade?

If you own only Sitebuilder but do not have server access (SSH remote access) it won't be possible for you to accomplish upgrade. In this case you need to contact with hostgator support service.
Just pass these instructions to them and ask it is possible to be applied from your or their end.
