• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Unable to install magicspam

Basic Pleskian
When trying to install magicspam (magicspam-plesk-1.0.8-1.1-precise64-postfix.amd64.deb) in the extensions management I get the following error: Error: Unable to install the extension: Unable to install the module package file

OSUbuntu 12.04.5 LTS
Plesk version12.0.18 Update #18, last updated at Oct 7, 2014 02:05 AM

The previous update of magicspam with version 1.0.6 worked fine. There were no changes to the system except the Plesk updates.

Please check that you have installed sendmail-milter package on your system. Install it if necessary and try to install magicspam again.

Solution found. I deleted the magicspam files from /var/lib/dpkg/info . After that the installation worked fine.

There was a package set that got released with an unfortunate bug that cropped up when an in place upgrade / overwrite of the extension package occurred. Prior to version 12 of Plesk Panel the extensions prevented one from attempting to install an extension over top of an already installed package so this specific condition was not caught.

This has since been addressed in the packaging for release 1.0.8-1.1 of MagicSpam to prevent any future issues with in place upgrades. Good catch on finding the solution and apologies for any inconvenience!
