Unable to set up FTP Login (user name) in FTP backup repository settings with '.' dot

Justin Clarke

Regular Pleskian
Hi,

Got an issue with my FTP username in the Plesk Backup Manager Personal FTP Repository.

My login user name is "insightwebxxxxxxx.co.uk" but I get an error saying "Error: FTP connection failed, please check your FTP settings. You can use alphanumeric, dash and underscore symbols in the login name."

Seems like it doesn't like the dots? But that is my fixed FTP user name on a different server.

What can I do?

I've seen similar posts with the '@' symbol being an issue, but there was a hotfix (hotfix) for this and it should have bee fully fixed in v9.2.3. I'm running v9.3.0.

Any ideas?

Cheers

"You can use alphanumeric, dash and underscore symbols in the login name." Nothing about dot.
Therefore just use FTP login name without dots.

Hi,

Thanks I've solved the issue. It's a misleading error message. As it's really complaining that the FTP Login is longer than 20 characters. For some reason this is limited in the web form, but if you edit the database store you can insert a FTP Login user name of up to 255 chars.

See this post for detailed instructions on how to resolve.
