msauer

New Pleskian
Server operating system version
Ubuntu 22.04.5
Plesk version and microupdate number
Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64 Update 1
Hi,
on my Plesk Obsidian runs a docker container with GitLab-EE. How can I upgrade the gitlab server to the latest version? If I want to connect to the docker container with SSH I will get the error "localhost: Permission denied (publickey)."
How can I connect to the docker container with SSH?
Thank you for your help.

Hi!

The idea of containers is that you can replace one container with another when you need it. Or if your container is broken or outdated, you can take a new one. You should avoid customizing live containers because, after that, you can lose your changes during redeployment.

Do you use persistent volumes with the container? Is your data safe (and backed up)? If yes, it makes sense to continue with using the official guide, Upgrade | GitLab

Hi,
sorry. I don't have much experience with Docker container.
Yes data are mapped to directories in my vServer.
How can install the latest version of GitLab in Plesk?

There are a few screenshots to show the process. According to the docs, you need to stop the existing container, create a new one based on the new version, and configure it similarly to the previous one. It is my understanding of the process, I do not test it, and there is no guarantee. That is why I strongly recommend preparing a backup of a server, volumes, etc., just in case.

How to create a new container with the latest version of GitLab in Plesk with the Docker extension,

1. Open the Docker extension, "click Run Container"

2. With search, find a required container,

3. Select a required version,

4. Configure the container according to requirements / previous settings,

5. Run the container,
