Upgrade to Php 5

I have tried searching the forums and on other websites about how to do this, but haven't found anything that works in my case.

I am running Fedora Core 2 and Plesk 8 and I want to upgrade to php 5 because I have some code that only works with php 5.

Does somebody know how to successfully do this, either using an RPM or by compiling from source?

I have tried running the "yum upgrade" command, but it doesn't list php 5...only php 4.3.11 (which I have installed).

I'm not really a guru when it comes to system admin, and unfortunately, my server host doesn't provide support due to the inexpensive cost of the server.

Thanks

AtomicRocketTurtle is the place for you. (ART for short). Art has it all. PHP5.0.4, MySQL 4.1.21, etc.etc.. all for Fedora Core 2.

Reference: http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomic/atomic/2/

To actively use ART in your yum archives, add...(as taken from his site):

[atomic]name=Atomic Rocket Turtle - $releasever - Atomic PSA-Compatible RPMSbaseurl=http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomic/art/$releasever/[atomic-app-vault]name=Atomic Rocket Turtle - $releasever - Atomic PSA App Vault RPMSbaseurl=http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomic/app-vault/[psa-8.0]name=Atomic Rocket Turtle - $releasever - SW-Soft PSA 8.0 RPMSbaseurl=http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomic/psa-8.0/$releasever/

Then issue the command "yum update php"

You ROCK!

That worked perfectly! I had a few errors after updating php5, but then I realised that there were 2 files that needed to be replaced with new versions, which were php.ini and php.conf. Finally, I can write some php5 compatible code.

Thanks again!
