Upgrading Options

I have a fair few in the auto-updater... but I don't want to use the auto updater as it tends to screw everything up and I have to take 3 or 4 days of work to fix the problems

In the updater preferenses it allows me to enter a web address.. is there an option to update via that?

I do not have a local server, it is miles and miles away and I use putty to access it from here.

I'd suggest using the RPM's to update it as you have more control over the update that way. If you're concerned hire someone to do it for you.

The web address in the updater is just to change it so you're not using swsoft download server, you would use another instead (same outcome so no point).
