URL Path not case sensative

I have a web site with shopping cart that was previously on a shared host, and we just upgraded to VPS with Plesk 8.1. I was told that the internal URL links in the web site don't have to be case sensative, and that it is a server configuration. is that true? can I configure this on the server side through Plesk, and if so how?
