• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Issue user not allowed to send mail

Minka Karaivanova

New Pleskian
Our setup:

Plesk Obsidian 18.0.27
Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS

Tools & Settings > Mail Server Settings > Allow users and scripts to use Sendmail - enabled

and

Tools & Settings > Outgoing Mail Control> Subscription > domain.com > Change Limit from the corresponding domain "Sendmail Usage Policy" is set to "Default server-wide settings (Sendmail is allowed)".

Domains > domain.com > Mail settings > Activate mail service on this domain is not checked – this domain receives mail somewhere else, we don’t want mail to be treated locally.

Issue:

When the domain attempts sending mails, we get an entry in the mail log /var/log/maillog file:

Jun 9 15:49:25 myserver plesk sendmail[413]: handlers_stderr: ERROR:__main__:Rejecting message: system user uid='10001' is not allowed to send mail

Jun 9 15:49:25 wyserver plesk sendmail[413]: handlers_stderr: DATA REPLY:554:5.7.0 Your message could not be sent. The user thisuser is not allowed to send email.#012REJECT

Jun 9 15:49:25 wyserver plesk sendmail[413]: REJECT during call 'limit-out' handler

The server sends out service mails to it's admin just fine.

We'd like to allow the domains to send out mails, while their own mail is still hosted somewhere else.

How do I fix this?

Thank you in advance for any input you might have!
