WatchDog Errors

Paul Muloin

New Pleskian
We are using Debian Etch 4, with plesk 9.0.1 and since we upgraded from 8.6 the watchdog module no longer shows in the modules area so we cant manage it from plesk control panel.

watching the server we get loads of errors like this showing which tells us its still running but we just cant manage it

init: ID "mon" respawning too fast - disabled for 5 mins
init: ID "WDC" respawning too fast - disabled for 5 mins

we disabled all the crontasks under root hoping to just stop it from running for the time being until problem is resolved but the same errors persist.

we are wary of doing anything on this server after the last batch of plesk updates causing us tons of grief so want a way to fix this without the possibility of any nasty side effects ..even though its throwing errors everything on the server is working ..cept watchdog of course.

Our thoughts were to uninstall and reinstall watchdog from linux command line but are not sure if this is going to restore the access in plesk as well.

should we just remove it and reinstall it using linux?? Any suggestions would be appreciated ...and some tips on the steps to achieve either would be handy as well

thanks in advance

Removing and reinstalling watchdog from the autoinstaller in shell will put it back in control panel gui. You can also remove and reinstall watchdog from the gui in manage modules. I had some issues with watchdog and reinstalling resolved all my issues.
