Resolved Webmail / Can't send an email but I can receive it.

Hello everyone,

I currently have a VPS L , with ubuntu /plesk (IONOS)

I have a problem with webmail on plesk: I can send an email from gmail / yahoo ... to my server, but I cannot send an email from my server to gmail.

For the mail log:

Please make sure Port 25 is open on your VPS. You might have to contact your service provider for this.

Yes, I have already added port 25 to the list of authorized ports in the IONOS firewall.

But despite this, same problem.

I also add that I can send emails internally, but externally it gets stuck..

Yes, I already contacted them yesterday and I'm waiting for a response from them.

Just so that I understand, I tried the command: telnet xxxxxx.tld 25 and the output is:

Trying 90.xx.xx.xxx...
Connected to xxxxxx.tld.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 host.domain.tld ESMTP Postfix (Debian/GNU)

Doesn't that mean port 25 is open?

For: gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com , It remains stuck on: "Trying IP ADDRESS..."

Seems like your IP address is blocked. Have a look at this:

When you say my IP address is blocked, what address are you referring to exactly?

The IP address of your VPS. I assume you tried to telnet to the Gmail servers from that server?

Yes, telnet from my IONOS server.

How could IONOS have assigned me a blacklisted IP address? It can happen ?

It can happen when too many spam emails where sent from that IP address.

I'm not sure if your IP address is blocked or if there's another reason you can't send emails to Gmail. You should have seen a 550-5.7.1 warning in the maillog. The best you can do is to contact IONOS support to get this resolved.

This problem persists with gmail, yahoo, outlook etc... all domains except internal webmail.

When I go to the mail log browser on plesk, no log contains: 550-5.7.1

I'll wait for their answer about port 25 and see how it goes.

I come back to you regarding the problem I encountered.

The problem was due to port 25. Indeed, it was open in incoming on my side, but blocked in outgoing.

IONOS support unlocked it for me and so far everything seems to be working.
