Webmail not working for one client, working for the rest

After finishing development on their website a client uploaded all the necessary files to their account. Since that time they have not been able to access their webmail through the browser.

The .htaccess file was removed from the directory for testing purposes and access was still not allowed to webmail.

The error is a "Could not connect to the server" error or a "Connection refused" error depending on which browser used.

Any ideas?

Please, if anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them – preferrably before I go bald from pulling my hair out. ;)
