Question what is autogenerated .composer folder inside home directory?

Hi,
I have a question. I don't know why or why but every now and then, after uploading files or interrupting the connection abnormally, a folder called ".composer" is created in the home path. Inside is an -htaccess with deny from all and a cache folder. Can you explain what it is? What is it for? Can I cancel it?

This is composer global folder, that keeps cached packages, globally installed packages and other stuff. You can remove it, but next time you run composer, this folder will be recreated.

Using Composer in a PHP Project — Composer offers an interactive way to create a new composer.json file based on the user's input, Composer also auto-generates a barebones ou'll see two numbers on the right side of each package in the list. The vendor folder shouldn't be committed into.
