Resolved Why are notifications for CPU usage turned off by default?

brownbag

Basic Pleskian
In advanced monitoring I notice that you can get notified if certain services have high memory usage and if you have used up too much disk space. You can also be notified for high CPU usage.

Yet the defaults in Plesk are to send notifications for high memory usage but not for CPU usage. I'm wondering why this is the case. Is it just too common for CPU to spike and would this cause false positives?

TIA.

Hi brownbag,

Currently, CPU usage is measured in microseconds, and it causes difficulties in suggesting "good defaults" for each Plesk server. When Advanced Monitoring can convert this metric to percentages based on the total capacity of microseconds for each CPU, Advanced Monitoring will be able to suggest default thresholds for CPU too.

That makes sense. thanks.
