  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Hi All

I am migrating more than 5000 domains from plesk8 and 10 to plesk 12.5, and have few issue that I have to review manually in some case.

One of them, is when an client have installed an wordpress wth the apps panel control, change someting in wp-config.php, when I migrate the domain to plesk 12.5... Plesk automatically erase and update the wp-config.php file with the default parameters of apps.

i don't understand why plesk Developper have do this, if client change something in wp-config, is because this change is needed!

So Ok, it's easy to solve (copy files from source), but it's extremely annoying when doing an change of lots of domains!

Hello!

You have several different applications, installed via APS on source Plesk server, right? Configuration files in this case will be managed as part of APS package and any customizations provided outside of package could be lost at re-configuration according logic of specific package. Unfortunately, re-configuration of APS applications is the important part of migration process, which occurs right after coping of corresponding files. Thus your customization is lost. We will consider your case in details to find appropriate solution for future development in scope of bug PMT-2372.

I can not reproduce this problem with WordPress 4.3.1, installed via APS. Which version of WordPress you have on your sources? Could you please provide example of changes in wp-config.php, which would be erased after migration? It could help us to resolve an issue faster.

Hello Aleksey

Source plesk 8.6, with WordPress 3.5.2-2, client have put 2 customize line in the wp-config.php :

define ( 'WP_CONTENT_DIR' , $_SERVER[ 'DOCUMENT_ROOT' ] . '/XXX' ) ;
define ( 'WP_CONTENT_URL' , 'http://' . $_SERVER[ 'HTTP_HOST' ] . '/XXX' ) ;

When migrate this domain to newer server, with cloudlinux 7 (I suppose OS is totally indifferent) and plesk 12.5, this 2 lines disappear...

I really not understand why panel not just copy the original files or almost not give this option.. and do automatically this change.

Thank you for information.

Re-configuration of applications - is a real chance to keep it running after migration. For example, database host or any other IP-addresses, stored in configuration files, could be changed (database may be migrated from localhost to external database server) and application will be broken. We are unable to fix it for any abstract application, but for applications, installed via APS we can. Good point is to provide ability to manage this behavior via some option. We can provide such option in nearest update. Is it solve the problem in your case?

It will be very great an option of "reconfigure apps" yes/no... of course. I understand that in some case, it can be better to reconfigure apps, but in our case... no.
Thanks to offer this solutions in the next update!

We only use GUI migration manager.. so if it's only available from comand line, it not be helpful for us....

I got it. Probably we can append advanced configuration section into wizard, accessible via GUI. This ability will be implemented in Plesk Migrator 1.4, which planned to be released at the Dec, 02.
