Will a Plesk 7.6.1 backup restore to Plesk 8.1

After the 4 days of downtime upgrading from Plesk 7.5 to Plesk 7.6.1, I am being very cautious about upgrading again.

Our server has never been right since that upgrade so we are wondering whether a backup of Plesk 7.6.1 will restore to a clean install of Plesk 8.1. Has anyone tried this?

I've restored from 7.5.1 backups onto a clean 8.1 install.

So far I haven't found any problems but I'm still at the testing stage - haven't put it into production yet, but it looks OK.

I'm going the route of migrating instead of upgrading for the same reason as you - you never know if the upgrade will fail and mess up your server.

I tried it on a virtual machine first then rented a dedicated server to try it for real.

Cheers,
Julian
