• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Windows VS Linux

Ok, I am ready to buy Plesk. Only I don't know what I should run it on. Windows 2003 or Fedora?

I grew up on Windows boxes but I want whatever will be the most reliable and fastest. I can make my way around the Linux environment just fine. Also, my box is going to be in another city once it is set up, so reliability is a must!

The sites that I am hosting have a fair amount of php on them which interfaces to mysql databases. I will have about 30 sites on a P4 3.0 HT with a gig of ram.

So, Windows 2003 or Fedora?

Thanks for the time and the thoughts.

windows or linux is your choice...

i like windows hosting because of:

- asp & asp.net support
- easier to admin

but you need to buy a windows license and a SPLA (service provider license agreement)

linux is cheaper

you should patch a linux server very often because if you wait too long with a important patch.....it's probably already rooted

so make your choice ;)
