Wrong document path on beta sites

dave-ha

Regular Pleskian
The document paths on a site that is still in beta (domain has not been activated yet) contains the final domain instead of the actual one. If you click on such document links it results in a "404 Not Found".

Example:
- Actual beta site URL: http://client-domain.com.webhoster.com/
- Actual document path: http://client-domain.com/data/documents/sample-file.pdf -> 404 Not Found
- Correct document path: http://client-domain.com.webhoster.com/data/documents/sample-file.pdf

Could you please correct that?

Hi Dave,

One question: are you inserting the links manually (copying them from Document Manager and pasting them in Text & Images module as a link), or you are using Link to a Document feature in Text & Images module?

The same applies to the image gallery: Image links point to the final address instead of the temporary address (sub-domain). Consequently, the editor does not show thumbnail images, it only shows black backgrounds/placeholders inside the image frames. Images are neither displayed in the enlarged view. Tested with WPB 11.0.10.

In relation to that: After publishing such a beta site to the temporary sub-domain it says in the editor menu something like "The site was successfully published at: <link to final domain>." Shouldn't the link text show the actual url (= temporary sub-domain) and the link point to the same address as well?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for providing additional info. Can you describe the scenario/workflow of assigning a temporary domain to user, then switching to a proper domain in more details?

Hi Custer,

The scenario is with domains being set up on a VPS. Until nameservers are assigned the URL reads something like http://clientsdomain.tld.hostersdomain.tld. This is where those paths are dead.

Workflow:
1. Set up a client's account and a domain in Plesk.
2. Start WPB.
3. Add content and publish it.
4. View the site at http://clientsdomain.tld.hostersdomain.tld (=> wrong paths)
5. Assign nameservers to the domain.
6. View the site at http://www.clientsdomain.tld (=> correct paths)

Does that help?

Hi, Dave.

It looks like issue with image gallery not reproduced in 11.1 release, but documents still inaccessible through preview. I've created bug #133091 (WPB 11.5 release).

Thanks for your report.

Hi Egor,
The issue with absolute document paths still exists in WPB 11.5.12. Could you give me an update on bug #133091?
Thank you.
